Momma’s Thanksgiving Dressing

Ingredients (dependent on how many servings you need)

  • bread cubes
  • sweet onion (proportional to bread)
  • celery stalks (including leaves; proportional to bread)
  • sage (most heavily used spice)
  • thyme (fresh, if you have it – Momma’s favorite!)
  • pepper
  • pinches of basil, oregano, parsley, savory


  1. Toast bread cubes.
  2. Chop onions and celery (including leaves) and saute with spices in 2 parts EVOO, 1 part butter (approx. 1 tbsp).
  3. Mix onion-celery mixture with toasted bread cubes.
  4. Add enough chicken broth so that the mixture is not dry. (Will probably not be the whole jar.)
  5. Bake for 30 minutes before serving. *Do NOT stuff in the turkey. This dries out the bird.*
