Chocolate Chip Scones

  • 3 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tblsp plus 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 cups dark chocolate chips
  • 2 cups cold whipping cream
  • 2 tblsp butter, melted
  • extra sugar for sprinkling

  1. Heat oven to 375 degrees.
  2. Lightly grease two cookie sheets (unless they are special kind that do not require it).
  3. Mix together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and chocolate chips.
  4. Pour in cream and stir until flour mixture is moistened.
  5. Turn mixture out onto a lightly floured surface and knead gently until a soft dough forms, about 2 minutes.
  6. Divide dough into three equal sized balls.
  7. Flatten the balls into a seven inch circle, using hands, and cut each circle into eight triangles.
  8. Place on cookie sheets about two inches apart.
  9. Brush tops with melted butter and sprinkle with sugar.
  10. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until lightly browned.
